The current Connacht Winter Tennis League is in the final stages with Boyle having competed in both Mens doubles and Ladies doubles events. 

It may be described as punching above our weight, (pun fully intended for the pro boxer in the club!!), but this year sees our small club entering 4 teams in the Connacht Winter Tennis League.  In both the Mens and the Ladies competition we have Grade 5 and Grade 6 teams.  

Our Mens Grade 6 team had their first taste of this competition and all who competed have made the club proud with their admirable performances.  They came up against some strong opposition from Ballinasloe and Portumna who were eventual winners of this group.  A huge shout out to Ashley & Michael who won a match against eventual group winners Portumna and for Shane & Victor who all lined out for Boyle. Our Ladies Grade 6 team had four teams to compete against in their group Galway, Maree, Portumna and Ballinasloe with Galway eventually coming out at the top of the group.  We had a great panel of ladies who were up against some long established clubs and players.  Winning a match along the way is a huge acheivement in their first competitive outing for the club a huge shout out to Linda, Patrice, Siobhan, Lorna, Galyna, Frances & Julie who all lined out at various stages and flew the Boyle TC flag so well!!

Portumna Ladies and Boyle Ladies Grade 6 Teams 

Our Mens Grade 5 team are still in contention and head to Maree next Sunday morning to take their well deserved place in the semi final knock out stage!!  In the group stages Boyle were drawn against Sligo and Ballina.  They were comfortable winners over Ballina and despite tough fought home and away fixtures against Sligo both ending 3-1 in matches, they finished second in their group.  Boyle will take on Maree in their semi final and victory would mean a place in the final against either a rematch with Sligo or Ballinasloe.  The best of luck to Gavin, Dallan, Joe & Colin who head west to compete this Sunday. 

Boyle Mens Grade 5 Team

Our Ladies Grade 5 team are also still in contention and will take on Galway LTC next Sunday morning in Boyle. Home advantage for the ladies in their semi final as they finished top of their group ahead of teams from Sligo, Claremorris & Ballina. Well done to Deirdre, Niamh, Priscilla, Geraldine & Julie who have all played and had great wins for this team.

If either of our Grade 5 teams win it will mean a place in the Connacht Final on the 28th January indoors on clay courts at the dome at Castlebar TC 🤞🎾.
